Hi Hannah - I loved this reflection. As someone who has always written "just for fun" (going back to the days of Blogspot), I've never classed myself as a writer. (That's despite previous jobs in PR and marketing where my days were filled with writing for others... just not MY voice.) I remember reading a post not so long ago (which I didn't save) that simplified it all: if you write, you're a writer. I'd got it muddled with being PAID to write.

Also, there's a northern writers group? Would love to hear about this from over the border in South Lakes

Thanks Emma. Yes I’ll post the link below. It’s really good. There’s a yearly membership (low cost) and we get monthly workshops and mentoring included 😊https://newwritingnorth.com

Love this. I have been having similar thoughts. What, or rather who, is the writer?

I can relate to trying to find some peace in a town that is bursting at the seams with visitors, sometimes it can be a trying experience. It's interesting coming into our identity as a writer. Perhaps we are one when we say we are? But I do tend to agree with your brother, it's always helpful to actually put words on a page too!

Yes it can be so trying can’t it Donna- especially on those days when you just fancy pottering around but there’s a big event on which is most weekends for us. I think I agree with my brother really too - but I realised as I was writing the post there are so many ways to view the word ‘writer’ and wanted to explore that a bit. Thanks Donna ❤️
