I was lying on my bed watching A New Life in the Sun (please don't judge me) when the glow from my iPhone caught my eye. It's been on silent since 2010, so notifications come through either as a soft vibration or a lit-up screen. I looked at the time. 9 pm. Reasonably early but too late to be getting involved in a text conversation.
